About the internship:Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Request freight rates and quotes from multiple forwarders and shipping lines for FCL and LCL shipments

2. Compare quotes on total cost, including ocean freight, origin and destination charges, surcharges, transit time and free days

3. Research routes, ports and carriers to find the best balance of cost, speed and reliability

4. Negotiate rates with forwarders and build good working relationships with them

5. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date rate comparison sheet

6. Track shipments and flag delays or issues early

7. Assist in preparing and checking export documents (training provided)
